Description from Organizer: This year’s Symposium is coordinated by the University of Wisconsin–Madison Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine Center, the Wisconsin Blood Cancer Research Institute and the BTC Institute. Although blood stem cells were the first adult stem cells to be defined and isolated, there has been considerable recent progress in transforming knowledge on mechanisms endowing the stem cells with unique activity, establishing the complex cellular landscapes inhabited by the stem cells, engineering systems to generate the stem cells, and innovating stem cell-based therapeutics.  This symposium will bring together leaders in the field and trainees of diverse backgrounds to discuss these recent fundamental and translational advances, which inform broader aspects of stem cell biology and molecular medicine.
