The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR), the largest and leading professional society of stem cell and regenerative medicine scientists worldwide, is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to support industry affairs and business development activities that fuel the ISSCR’s mission of enabling breakthrough scientific discoveries and the development of transformative new therapies to improve human health.
Main Responsibilities
Work closely with the Business Development and Sales team to ensure successful industry partnerships.
Support and maintain strong relationships with industry, biotech, and pharmaceutical partners.
Identify new industry sponsors to support the ISSCR’s missions and initiatives
Update and maintain Industry Relations pipeline
Oversee the fulfillment of sponsor and exhibitor benefits:
Collect and maintain company information
Create, update, and maintain relevant exhibitor/sponsor documents (rules & regs, exhibitor kits, etc.)
Collect and integrate company presentation information into conference programs and materials
Coordinate with marketing team towards website/digital fulfillment items
Coordinate with events team on sponsorship items (e.g. lanyards, notebooks, etc.), onsite signage, and other event logistics
Work with events team and venue contractors and vendors on exhibit setup, take-down, and shipment requirements
Oversee & manage exhibitor/sponsor portal system and payments
Follow-up with exhibitors/sponsors with outstanding items
Develop and maintain sponsorship reports
Other Roles & Responsibilities
Represent the ISSCR in the most positive manner with prospective, former, and current attendees, prospects, sponsors, and the community we serve.
Interacts effectively with a diverse group of members, staff, leadership, and other stakeholders of our services.
Provide customer support for sponsors and exhibitors.
Provide occasional back-up assistance for ISSCR email inboxes and phone line coverage
Handles confidential information with tact and discretion.
Other duties as needed or assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (science, business, marketing, or communications preferred)
Aptitude in MS Office Suite and Office 365, with strong competency in Excel
Proficiency in software platforms and databases including data entry and reporting functions preferred
1-2 years’ experience in a medical/scientific association, non-profit, or similar working environment preferred
Experience working in a customer service support position preferred
Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
Detail-oriented and ability to meet project timelines/deadlines
Ability to work effectively in team scenarios
Strong organizational skills
Excellent communication skills
Availability for limited annual international travel

The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is seeking a Manager-level candidate to join the ISSCR’s policy and regulatory team. This role will support the society’s engagement in policy debates concerning stem cell research and regenerative medicine at the federal and international levels.
This individual will join the ISSCR team at a time of tremendous interest in regenerative medicine and stem cell research. The position offers the opportunity to work with the world’s leaders in stem cell research, biotech, and ethics to increase the ISSCR’s influence in governmental decision-making environments around the world. The ISSCR’s policy program aims to impact policy pertaining to stem cell research and future cell therapies, driving international collaboration and accelerating responsible scientific and medical discovery.
This position will help craft ISSCR policy strategies to advocate for and support the development of:
Scientifically informed policy pertaining to stem cell research and its applications.
Policies that promote rigorous and ethical scientific and medical behavior, and reinforce the trustworthiness of scientists, clinicians, and the scientific and medical enterprise.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to:
Work closely with the Director of Policy to develop infrastructure to monitor and comment on emerging legislative policy issues (scientific and ethical-legal-social), as well as possible public concerns regarding stem cell research technologies.
Track key committees and working groups and provide input into the development of legislation and policy as needed.
Represent the ISSCR in public forums and with public officials; build relationships with legislators, executive officials, and their staff to advance the ISSCR’s policy priorities.
Plan and coordinate ISSCR advocacy events, such as congressional briefings, lobby days on Capitol Hill, and annual meeting events.
Identify and develop strategic alliances with advocacy organizations to address multi-stakeholder issues.
Craft statements, factsheets, and related advocacy materials for communication with policymakers in support of ISSCR advocacy initiatives.
Administrative and strategic staffing for ISSCR policy-related member committees.
Assist in identifying communications and media strategies to effectively present and strengthen the ISSCR’s policy initiatives and positions.
REQUIREMENTS
Three to five years of experience working in a policy-related role with a House or Senate office, a federal agency, a corporation, or a membership society, with a preference for those who have health or science policy-related experience.
Thoughtful, energetic individual with the ability to explain science and science policy to policymakers; an ability to initiate and maintain strong bipartisan relationships.
Exceptional written, communication, and verbal presentation skills; experience writing for a scientific audience a plus.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects under time and resource pressure.
Interest in international policymaking and an ability to manage relationships with diverse, non-U.S. audiences.
Experience with the federal biomedical research enterprise.
B.A./B.S. required; Masters or higher preferred
This position is work from home, but the ideal candidate will be located in, or willing to relocate to, the Washington, D.C. metro area.

The ISSCR is an international non-profit scientific organization established to promote excellence in stem cell science and applications to human health. The society brings together researchers engaged across a wide spectrum of stem cell research from discovery to clinical application and supports responsible research using all forms of stem cells, including embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, and stem cells from and within organs and tissues. Through its policy and advocacy program, the ISSCR advocates on behalf of the stem cell research community around the world, giving researchers a voice in crucial policy and regulatory debates.
