Editor in Chief, Stem Cell Reports
The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) invites applications for Editor-in-Chief (EiC) for its flagship journal.

Overview
The EiC will work closely with an international team that includes the Managing Editor, Associate Editors, and the Publisher. An Editorial Board is also available for consultation. The EiC position is a volunteer position for which there is an editorial stipend.
Term
The EiC will serve an initial three-year term from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2027 with a possible extension of an additional three years. The incoming EiC will have an overlapping period with the current EiC, beginning in the 3rd quarter of 2024.
Editorial Role and Responsibilities
The EiC has complete and final authority for peer review, selection, and editorial modification of submissions. The EiC will work collaboratively with the ISSCR and publisher to:
Develop strategies for editorial development of Stem Cell Reports, including but not limited to ensuring the journal’s continued relevance to the community, developing plans and strategies to attract high-impact science, actively soliciting the work of high-profile authors at scientific meetings, and attending strategy and planning meetings arranged by the Society or publisher.
Engaging the Associate Editors, Editorial Board, and ISSCR’s Scientific Programs Committee to ensure continuous improvement and development of the journal. This includes identifying ways to attain appropriate exposure for the journal and society such as the use of social media, collaborations, and/or other activities.
Working with the Associate Editors to improve their understanding of criteria for selecting papers and expanding coverage in new areas.
Ensuring the highest standards of professional conduct and scientific integrity among all members of the editorial team, consistent with all applicable laws and regulations, and in line with ISSCR policy.
Position Qualifications
Distinguished scholarly record in stem cell research and experience in academic leadership roles
Strong management and organizational skills
Ability and willingness to make the daily/weekly time commitment to give the editorship of Stem Cell Reports the necessary priority
Global outlook and strong international connections
Strong commitment to success of the journal and the ISSCR

Candidates selected for further consideration will be expected to provide additional materials including a vision statement for the journal.
History and Mission of Stem Cell Reports
Stem Cell Reports is an open access, peer-reviewed forum communicating basic discoveries in stem cell research in addition to translational and clinical studies. The journal focuses on original research with conceptual or practical advances that are of broad interest to stem cell biologists and clinicians. Stem Cell Reports is the flagship journal of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) and recently celebrated 10 years publishing impactful science.
