ISSCR Announces New Policy Director, Eric Anthony

CHICAGO, 11 December 2017 - The ISSCR has named Eric Anthony to be its new Director of Policy. Anthony served more than eight years as staff in the U.S. Congress, most recently as legislative director for Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut. He will join the Society in early January 2018.

“Eric brings more than a decade of policy experience to the ISSCR, with a focus on healthcare, budget appropriations and consumer issues,” said ISSCR president Hans Clevers. “We look forward to his assistance in directing, planning, and executing the organization’s policy and advocacy efforts around the world,” he said.

Anthony served on Representative Rosa DeLauro’s staff for more than six years, advancing from legislative assistant to legislative director, where he managed the congresswoman’s efforts on the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee in the House of Representatives for the last three years. Among other issues, Anthony focused on the health policy portfolio, including health reform, Medicare, Medicaid, and appropriations for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to joining Rep. DeLauro’s staff, Anthony served as legislative assistant to a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Anthony’s earlier work includes campaign experience with the Hillary Clinton for President campaign (2007-2008), and Chuck Reed for San Jose Mayor (2006).

Anthony earned a BA with honors from the University of California at Berkeley.
