Find Your Niche at ISSCR 2021

Each year, we ask our members what they like best about the ISSCR Annual Meeting. Each year, we hear the same thing: it is the single most comprehensive, influential meeting in our field.

Then, we ask what we can improve. And, each year, we hear the same thing: the breadth of the meeting can be overwhelming.

So, we have done something about it.

This year, you will see our sessions divided into five themes, designed not only to make the meeting more navigable, but also to help members of our community find fellow scientists, mentors, novel approaches, and new data most relevant to their work.

Tissue Stem Cells and Regeneration explores tissue stem cells, stem cell-niche interactions, and stem cells in cancer; New Technologies focusses on the application of emerging technologies to stem cell research; Clinical Applications highlights cellular therapies and tissue engineering research moving towards the clinic; Cellular Identity seeks an understanding of the basis of cell state and type, epigenetic and genetic regulation, and the mechanisms of reprogramming;  Lastly, Modeling Development and Disease examines advances using stem cells in vivo and in vitro to model development and disease. Just as the structure of the meeting evolved this year, so too has the technology with which we deliver it. As you enter the meeting, we will ask you for information about topics and areas of professional development you are most interested in. We’ll then use the information to deliver recommendations each day, pointing you to session and opportunities most relevant. The experience will be personalized, engaging, interactive – and, as always, inspiring.

I hope you will join us this June to learn and share your latest research. Not only is the registration fee for the meeting quite low, any trainee member who registers before 21 April will also be able to attend the Workshop on Clinical Translation for no additional cost. It is an unprecedented value for a full week’s access to leading science and scientists in stem cell research and regenerative medicine.
